New YouTube series starring Universal Orlando superfans

Discover Universal, Universal Orlando Resort’s official planning resource, is looking for theme park enthusiasts to star in “The Fanny Pack,” a new video series based on the resort. The vlogger-style series will feature “a rotating cast of diverse fans” touring viewers around Universal “through unscripted and improvised” segments, Universal said.

Grab your camera and get ready to hit record! Auditioners are asked to submit a “vlogger-style” video that allows the audition team to get to know each superfan hopeful. The most important part of the audition process is letting your authentic self shine through. No overthinking or trying to emulate your favorite social media personality. Instead, superfans are encouraged to share their passion for Universal Orlando in an “outgoing, witty, and adventurous” way, according to a Universal Orlando press release.

Audition requirements

Universal Orlando Resort wants all superfans to follow this video prompt found on their casting call page:

Take us on a vlogger-style tour of your favorite spot in your neighborhood or general vicinity. This could be your house/apartment, a park, a coffee shop, a book shop, etc. Your finished video audition should not exceed 7 minutes in runtime. This will not be used as corporate-facing content, so feel free to relax and be your genuine self.

In addition to that prompt, auditioners should also record themselves answering questions like, “When you enter Universal Islands of Adventure, which direction do you go?” and “Do you have any friends who you would love to vlog about Universal Orlando Resort with?” These important questions aim to showcase an applicant’s personality and familiarity with the property.

Audition hopefuls must be familiar with creating or interacting with content on social media and be knowledgable about tips and tricks for making the most of a Universal Orlando vacation. If you’re unfamiliar with Discover Universal’s digital series, there are several shows dedicated to various aspects of a Universal Orlando vacation. All of the shows, including the forthcoming show “The Fanny Pack,” will find a home on Universal’s YouTube Channel. Popular series like “The Ride Guys,” “Checked-In,” and “Dine and Ride” cover rides, Universal hotels, and dining, but “The Fanny Pack” will aim to cover the resort as a whole.
