I’m joking with the use of meager, btw. Shorts are dominating all across the charts. 37 of the Top 50 most viewed channels primarily upload short-form content. And for the second week in a row, a short-form family channel from India is in the #1 spot.

Chart Toppers

Anaya Kandhal is back in the #1 spot, a location which the family-friendly vlog channel has occupied for the majority of Q2 2024. This week the YouTube home for the young Anaya and her family is up 19% to top out at 988.5 million views. As my colleague Sam Gutelle wrote this last week, it appears that no one can really catch India’s favorite young video creator.

Zamzam Electronics Trading is in second place up from 14th last week thanks to an 82% weekly increase in views. The store was established in 2013 as a single electronics shop in a market in Dubai. At least two of its four founding brothers started embracing social media during the pandemic. That’s led to a sprawling social media affluence that’s seemingly helped the brothers realize real world financial success and 712.4 million views in the week.

In third place is the second short-form, family-friendly vlog channel from India in the Top 5. KL BRO Biju Rithvik employs the same wacky hijinx seen in Anaya Kandhal, except for a ever-so-slightly older adolescent set. The familial shenanigans were good for more than 676.2 million views in the seven-day stretch.

And rounding out the Top 5 is The geeta gurjar. It’s only the third short-form, family-friendly vlog channel from India in the Top 5. Videos of the mother-daughter pair, plus some extended family were good for 552.8 million views in the week.

Top Gainers

Dylan Anderson has a goal to show that “good news happens in the world every day.” He accomplishes it by finding, receiving, curating, and posting mundane and viral videos to his YouTube channel, complete with original matter-of-fact narration explaining what’s going on in the moving pictures. It’s kind of like if Daily Dose of Internet had a happy niche and its founder/narrator Jason Gryniewicz was a few degrees more emphatic.

It’s not an Indian short-form family vlog, but the masses seem to really dig Anderson’s shorts-only output. The Orlando, Floridian’s channel was up 36% week-over-week, bumping it up from #52 all the way to #30 with 317.1 million views.

Anderson starting seeing success on his channel in 2022 with his sports-related Shorts with poignant and emotional stories. It makes sense given he’s been in the sports and online video world since 2015, with stints as a Social Programmer for Bleacher Report’s House of Highlights and now as a Social Media Manager at ESPN.

Apparently the guy A) really likes his job, B) isn’t making a ton of dough on Shorts views, but his production process isn’t time consuming, C) hasn’t updated his LinkedIn or D) some combo of the above. Before you take your guess, keep in mind it’s been a while since Anderson posted on-the-clock and on-location photos with people like Gronk. His channel also consistently racks up close to 1 billion views a month (with a peak at 1.5 billion in September 2023). I have my hunches, but we’ll reach out to Anderson and get the lowdown in a future installment. Stay tuned.
