One of the many restaurant review pages on Facebook blew up recently after a review was left about Big Jim’s Pizza Company, a locally owned pizzeria.

Just a heads up for those who are not members of this group: Amarillo Restaurant Reviews… At Your Own Risk is a no-holds-barred group where anything goes. Members will not hesitate to push back if they think something is over the top.

A customer, who will remain anonymous, left a review on Big Jim’s Pizza Co.’s page. They ordered a half-and-half pizza with one side pepperoni and the other side supreme, which included pepperoni. They specifically requested 2x extra pepperoni on the pizza. After receiving the pizza, they felt it didn’t have the extra pepperoni. Although you could still see cheese, a picture they posted in the group showed that the pizza had plenty of pepperoni,  They mentioned that they didn’t think they got their money’s worth.

When you get a 20 in pizza with half Pepperoni you expect the pizza to be covered not huge gaps between them. Even when calling you get no where. So here we are again leaving a bad review on fb because giving double pepperonis when charging is a freaking issue.. mind you this isn’t our first time dealing with this.

Big Jim’s Pizza Co. responded to the review with an explanation, an apology, and offered a discount on their next order, adding that they would make sure that a manager made the pizza.

The customer was upset not about the taste, but about the lack of pepperoni and being charged extra when they didn’t think it was extra.  Later in the comments, they revealed that they called the restaurant after receiving a pizza, saying that

My original phone call was questioning how much i paid for extra maybe thinking yall could refund to my account the extra charge but that didnt happen i just got excuses especially when asking for the person above her since she was the “manager”, my Receipt says 2x pepperonis so expectations on a 20 in half pizza should have been covered or the regular amount yall provide should have been doubled.

Again, Big Jim’s Pizza Co. owner Jim Dewitz responded to her and offered to refund the extra pepperoni charge. Still the irate customer persisted. And this time, they started including emojis of the middle finger in their comments.

After Big Jim’s Pizza Co. tried to make it right, the group members went wild and clapped back at the poster. This is expected because that is what this group is and what this group does to reviews that they think are “Karenish” or “Chadish”.  They probably should have asked for the pound of pepperoni.

Keep up with the drama here.

The original poster kept coming back and snapping back at the owner, then eventually the group members who commented.  Most of their responses to the group comments included the finger emoji, you know the bird, the middle finger, flipping off, flicking off, whatever you choose to call it. Soon the poster’s significant other entered the conversation.

The Review Backfired

Many people who read the back and forth vowed to give Big Jim’s Pizza Co. their business after reading this review that went from bad to worse.

Big Jim’s Pizza Co. was so slammed after the review that the owner posted on the review page about the surge of business.

I really appreciate all the love we’ve gotten from the page and everyone around town for Big Jim’s Pizza Co.. But I do want to say preemptively … please be patient with us because everyone is wanting to come and eat with us tonight and we are super super busy in there. We love y’all.

It’s OK to post a review about a business

That is what this page is for, but be prepared because this page is not for the faint of heart or those easily angered or offended.

A bad review was made, and the owner tried to make it right, the customer did not like the answer and was probably waiting for, “OK we were wrong, you were right” and it didn’t happen. So hoping they would lose business they took to Facebook and it had the opposite reaction. Big Jim’s gained business.

If you love food drama and have thick skin or a sense of humor, the Amarillo Restaurant Reviews… At Your Own Risk is the Facebook group for you.  Just be ready to take what you dish out, and if you report a post because you find it offensive, rude, or mean, they will put you on blast.
