After investing $30,000 and hundreds of hours of hard work, the owner is now trying to sell this 1974 Corvette that’s one of less than 40 ever converted into a Greenwood Sportwagon.

If you’re into the shooting brake look envisioned by Corvette racer and enthusiast John Greenwood half a century ago, this might be the bargain of a lifetime for you as the asking price in the Facebook Marketplace is only $15,000 or best offer.

Restoration of the car began as a father-son project way back in 2007, but after getting an estimated 80 percent of the work completed, including a frame-off rebuild of all mechanical components and a full bare-fiberglass repaint, it’s been sitting for the past eight years, giving time for some of the effects of that work possibly to regress.

Indeed, the new black paint has picked up some imperfections and a few chips but overall is said to remain “very presentable.”

But on the bright side, the numbers-matching 350 engine and Turbo 400 automatic transmission have already been rebuilt, along with the differential and trailing arms. Other work along the way included powder coating the frame and installing all bearings, bushings, and chassis components.

Still, the owner says there remain many small details to take care of, items like making the headlights open and windshield wipers function. In addition, he says the air conditioning doesn’t work and needs recharging, the vacuum lines need sorting, the hood release and tach are ornery, the carburetor may need cleaning, and the battery box lid assembly, rear carpet, and speedometer need to be replaced.

Those remaining projects don’t really sound that daunting, though. We love the overall look of the car with its stunning color combo of black over red, and the increased storage space behind the seats would definitely be welcome. We almost wish the original drivetrain hadn’t been rebuilt as this car would be really cool with a more powerful LS3 engine and a Tremec five-speed manual instead.
