Facebook ad leads to an arrest

An undercover investigation that began when a man saw his possessions posted for sale on Facebook Marketplace has resulted in an arrest in Texas County. On July 17th Texas County deputies received a report of stolen farm equipment on Brushy Creek Road in the Houston area. The victim also reported that he found a Facebook marketplace ad showing other equipment for sale that was still in his possession. Deputies arranged a controlled meeting with the suspect by posing as a potential buyer of the equipment. The suspect using a fake profile name agreed to meet with the “buyer” at a location in Houston. Shaun Cross arrived at the meeting location and was arrested. Following his arrest Cross was found to be in possession of a large amount of cash and a handwritten bill of sale with the fake Facebook profile name on it. The investigation led deputies to other stolen equipment that had been sold on marketplace. 32 year old Shaun Cross of Houston is charged with two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of attempting to receive stolen property. His bond was set at $10,000 Cash.
