Monroe, MI – Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is reporting a Facebook scam. The scammer is posting on social media that they are raising funds for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.

Goodnuff says that his office will never request citizens to submit payment over the phone, via social media or solicit any citizen to donate money to his office.

The Sheriff’s Office will also never request payment by way of gift cards. If you have given out sensitive banking information or personal information you are encouraged to contact Monroe County Central Dispatch.
