Famous billionaire investor and Shark Tank star Mark Cuban reportedly lost control of his main Gmail account on June 22 after falling victim to a phishing attack.
Cuban quickly turned to X to warn his 8.8 million followers. He explained, “I just got hacked at my [email protected] because someone named Noah at your 650-203-0000 called and said I had an intruder and spoofed Google’s recovery methods.” Cuban warned his followers not to trust any emails from his address after 3:30 PM PST Saturday.
However, this isn’t the first time Cuban have been targeted. Just nine months ago, hackers stole a whopping $870,000 from his crypto wallet. These back-to-back incidents are making speculators wonder about the safety of even the most tech-savvy guru.
While many in the crypto space showed support for the billionaire, others couldn’t help but wonder about the flood of emails piling up in his locked account. Some also questioned whether his social media accounts might also be compromised.
Cuban, who’s known for speaking his mind about cryptocurrency, has been pushing for better rules in the US. He recently argued for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to oversee crypto regulations instead of the Securities and Exchange Commission, citing concerns over the SEC’s enforcement-heavy approach.
