ForbesToday’s ‘Wordle’ #1115 Hints, Clues And Answer For Monday, July 8th

It’s the second Tuesday of July but we’re still in the single digits as far as dates go. As far as temperatures go, we keep getting closer and closer to triple digits. Monday had a high of 95, but up here at 7,500 ft that feels a lot hotter. The forest is ever so dry. It’s quite worrisome. Even with rain on the horizon, well that can come with lightning storms. Sometimes the rain doesn’t even fall and we get dry lightning.

Still, in the early mornings and that glorious time just before sunset, the summer warmth is quite perfect. I know I’ll miss it when it’s gone.

Let’s do this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

I was a little confounded by today’s Wordle. Things started off so good with SCARE (which I picked because I’d just written about the new trailer for Agatha All Along, which looks great by the way). Three green boxes! This should be easy!

Not hardly.

I tried GLARE, which seemed like a pretty obvious choice. Nope. FLARE wasn’t hot enough to seal the deal. It didn’t even occur to me that the word BLARE would be correct (though also ironic given my post about Agatha All Along, which is about witches, kind of like The Blair Witch Project!)

Competitive Wordle Score

Total wash. 0 points for guessing in four and 0 for tying the Bot.

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “blare” is thought to originate from Middle English, specifically the word “blaren,” which means “to cry aloud” or “to roar.” This term is akin to the Middle Dutch “blaren” and the Middle Low German “blaren,” both of which also mean “to cry out” or “to bleat.” The word has Germanic roots, and its meaning has evolved to describe loud, harsh sounds, particularly those that are sustained or sudden, such as the blare of a trumpet or a car horn.
