‘Wordle’ #1,105 Clues, Hints and Answer for Friday, June 28 Game

Years after the brain teaser was released to the public, the popularity of The New York TimesWordle is still going strong.

New York-based software engineer Josh Wardle perfected the game during the COVID-19 lockdowns before releasing it to the public in October 2021.

Following its public debut, Wordle exploded from 90 users on November 1, 2021, to 300,000 on January 2, 2022, according to figures by Statista. The New York Times purchased it for an undisclosed seven-figure fee soon after and it became the publication’s most popular puzzle.

A large part of Wordle‘s appeal is its simplicity. Players get six attempts to guess a five-letter word. Gray tiles behind each letter indicate that they’re not in the word at all; yellow means the letter features but is in the wrong position; while green lets players know the letter is in the word and in the correct place.

While the word-based game itself is straightforward to play, it doesn’t mean it’s always easy. In fact, Wardle said he sometimes struggles to figure out the answer.
