ForbesToday’s ‘Wordle’ #1128 Hints, Clues And Answer For Sunday, July 21st

We live in wild times, don’t we? A week ago, former President Trump literally dodged a bullet when an assassin grazed his ear thanks to a lucky turn of the head.

This week, current President Biden has announced he’s withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race, leaving voters in a situation this country has never seen before.

Thank goodness we have Wordle. Steady and reliable Wordle. Every day we can set aside the politics and worries and just focus on figuring out a word puzzle. There’s something very zen about it—meditative even.

Let’s do today’s shall we?

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

So I picked BIDET because I was thinking about Biden and that’s not an option for Wordle so I picked the next closest thing. Also, bidets are amazing and everyone should have one. Toilet paper is all well and good, but why settle?

This was incredibly lucky, leaving me with just one option: CADET for the win!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get two points for guessing in 2 and another for beating the Bot for a lovely 3 point win! Huzzah!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “cadet” originates from the French word “cadet,” meaning a younger son or junior. This comes from the Old Provençal “capdet,” from Late Latin “capitellum,” a diminutive of “caput” (head). It was adopted into English in the 17th century, initially retaining the meaning of a younger son before expanding to denote young trainees, especially in the military.
